General Refuse
There are two transfer stations in Area A which accept a wide range of trash, excluding liquid waste and hazardous materials. Full details on what is allowed to be dumped are posted at the transfer station sites. Not sure what to do with your unwanted item? Please see the RDCK’s Waste Disposal Options Directory for suggestions.
Note: Returnable items can also be donated to the local Lion’s Club at the Crawford Bay and Boswell transfer stations.
Crawford Bay Transfer Station
16798 Crawford Creek Road
Open 9-3 Tuesdays, Thursdays & Sundays in summer,
10 – 3 Tuesdays & Sundays in winter
Boswell Transfer Station
12549 Hepher Road
Open year-round from 1-3 on Wednesdays and Saturdays
Please be aware that the transfer stations are closed on statutory holidays. Illegal dumping is a serious offence – please respect our environment!

General Recyclables
Local recycling bins take paper, cardboard, food cans, glass and plastics and always open. These bins are located at:
- Boswell Transfer Station – 12549 Hepher Road
- Crawford Bay Transfer Station – 16798 Crawford Creek Road
- Riondel Community Hall – 1511 Eastman Avenue

Electronics Recyclables
Electronics should not be taken to the Transfer Stations as they contain heavy metals and other toxic materials. Please recycle your electronic good at the Electronics Rcycling facility in Nelson.

Returnables
Returnable drink containers, beer, and wine bottles can be cashed in at the bottle depot behind Crawford Bay Store.
